Spring Rugby 101

Interested in the sport of rugby? Maybe a little rusty on some of your passing skills? Never played a team sport?

No problem!

The Chicago Dragons Rugby Football Club each season hosts a 'Rugby 101'. In the course of just a few hours, we will give you the basics of the sport. From passing to positions, we will give you an overview and an opportunity to find out if rugby is the sport for you!

Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 11am-2pm with a 'third half' following the event (More on this below...)

Schedule

1100-1110am: Introductions

1110-1130am: History/Basics of the Sport

1130-1230pm: Drills - Passing, Running, Tackling

1230-0100pm: Q&A (and Snack)

0100-0200pm: Scrimmage.

0230-0500pm: Third Half (Food and Drink)

What should you bring
Please dress in gym clothes with sneakers (cleats if you have them!).
Also, please bring a mouth guard if you have one - they can usually be purchased at a sporting goods store for about $3.
Please make sure to bring proof of age (Driver's License, ID, Passport,etc). While we are "All Ages.", you must be AT LEAST 18 years old.

Third Half
After our scrimmage, we will be hosting a third half from roughly 230-5pm. Third Halves are part of rugby tradition (as you'll learn the sport has A LOT of traditions!). The event is hosted by the home team and includes food and drink - with plenty of drinking songs and games.

Its our hope that by the end of our Rugby 101, you will be able to walk away with a good idea about the sport and our club. While our focus will be one the basics - Running with the Ball (Passing/Catching) and Tackling - it should be enough to give you a taste of the sport so many of us have come to love.
