The Chicago Dragons are a Division IV member of the USA Rugby organization, the Midwest Rugby Union, and the Chicago Area Rugby Football Union (CARFU). We are dedicated to competitive play within our division.

The Chicago Dragons are also the first team to accept openly gay men in the Midwest, the first team in the Midwest to formally join International Gay Rugby (IGR), and have been a guiding force in our local union and other unions throughout the Midwest to increase awareness and diversity in the sport of rugby.

Since 2003, the Chicago Dragons’ mission has been to play the sport of rugby, increase the diversity of the sport, thereby creating a welcoming and encouraging learning environment for new players regardless of background.  We also strive to create a competitive team on local, national and international levels.

The Chicago Dragons are also classified as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service.  This means that depending on your tax situation, your donation to the Chicago Dragons may be deductible on your taxes.

We welcome newcomers, experienced players, coaches and fans of all ages, races, and sexual orientations.
